WHO WE ARE

We are a global network of professional artists working in the computer graphics industry. From industry veterans to talented up-and-comers, what unites us is our passion for animation and our creative skills. Agora is the sum of its collective workforce, but here are the people steering the ship.

Jacob Gardner

JACOB GARDNER

Animation Director

Jacob Gardner wanted to be an animator from a very early age thanks to Disney's Aladdin and The Lion King. His passion for bringing characters to life led him to work as a character animator at DreamWorks Animation on 10 feature films, as a facial animator for AAA games with Eidos Interactive, as an animation instructor at iAnimate.net, and now as Animation Director at Agora.studio. He is committed to making a functional collaborative environment within a remote “virtual studio” setting.

Patrick Coulombe

PATRICK COULOMBE

Technical Director

Open source lover and technological innovator at heart, in 1999 Patrick launched the non-profit organization 11h11 (a virtual gallery that promotes local artists and helps them find work as freelancers). Shortly after he created a business offering services in the plural sector. In 2002 he sold his shares and moved to Tokyo to offer programming services as a freelancer, while developing his expertise in global networking. In 2015, he became a founding partners at agora.studio and put to good use his experiences acquired abroad. In his free time, he has a special interest in visual and auditory art, often mixing both with his own technological innovations. His experimentations are shared on workinprogress.ca.

David Hubert

DAVID HUBERT

Creative Director

David always dreamed of making movies in his childhood. Soon after finishing animation school in Montreal, he traveled the world and went to work as a character animator on many feature productions including Happy Feet, Hellboy: The Golden Army, Shrek Forever After, Kung Fu Panda 2, Puss in Boots, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and The Croods. More recently he was supervising animation and directing video game cinematics for the Deus Ex and Tomb Raider franchises at Eidos Montreal. He also remains very much involved in online education with iAnimate.net and sometimes takes the stage at events such as CTN, GDC and DICE to share his passion for animation and storytelling.

Gael Jacques

GAEL JACQUES

CG Supervisor

Gael never imagined his natural drawing skills and curiosity would lead him to a successful career in the CG industry that started almost 20 years ago. Primarily a character artist, over time he ended up getting his hands dirty on pretty much all aspects of CG production. His extensive experience with various studios in Montreal led him to offer his services as a freelancer, which in turn led to the supervision of freelancers.

Eve Turpin

EVE TURPIN

Administrator

With a master’s degree in project management, Eve's career started in architecture where she learned to manage artists, technicians and clients on ambitious projects. With a strong desire to explore the world, she moved around and lived in Sydney, London and Los Angeles before coming back to her hometown Montreal. This provided plenty of opportunities to work remotely for various organizations. Today, Eve is in charge of Agora's administration and coordination with our freelancers and clients.
